Childhood Memory – Story ( counting 1 page as 2400 characters)

It was windy, had rained a bit, and she had gotten wet on her way to school. Not that she minded at all though!
She was sitting in the classroom, happily humming and drawing in her calendar. It was October 1st, 2003, and Reina, the family dog, barely a pup herself, had had her puppies the night before! The girls parents hadn’t returned home from the vet yet, but weeks ago they had already settled on names for the pups. Giggling as she scribbled a drawing of dogs, Reina, and the two puppies! She loved dogs, more than horses even! And she could not wait to get home! All day she was in a daze, thinking of how small they must be, and her heart started to beat faster, badump-badump, as the clock ticked and the bell finally sounded!
Barely remembering to say good bye to her classmates she grabbed her jacket and her things, before scurrying out to her bike, huffing and puffing all the way home, and up the big hill. Not that it bothered her, oh no not at all! She couldn’t get home fast enough! Stomping in the pedals of the bike, and almost jumping off it before it stopped, right in front of the house, hurrying in but –
It was dark. Everything was quiet, and before she barely opened her mouth to say “Hi!” she got hushed at.

She took off her shoes and entered the hallway slightly flustered. Mom was there and Morten too, both looking quiet.

“Are the puppies here?” Barely allowing herself to utter the words, oh so very quietly. Mom nodded,
“Yes, they are,” smiling, “want to see?”

She nodded eagerly and was allowed to enter the darkened bedroom. And right there. RIGHT there, her heart stopped for a second.

“So. Small..!” Trying not to squee in joy! Tiny itty bitty puppies!
Mom giggled, and waved her over, Morten carefully watching the scene from the foot of the bed.

“Want to hold one?” he asked then, and she nodded, eager as ever, and mom picked it up to hand it to her. She was sitting on the bed now, the small black puppy laying in her combined hands. It was so warm, so cute, and she swallowed, never having experienced a thing like this.

“It’s so .. so small,” She whispered quietly. Scooching around on the bed, just a bit, but then it happened, and the small pup fell on the mattress.
She held her breath, feeling a shiver down her spine.

And then everything exploded.

Yelling, lots of yelling as she ran out of the house, putting on her shoes halfway out on the concrete and running into the small wood area there was beside the road.
She hadn’t meant to, she really hadn’t, sobbing and crying as snot and tears ran down her face. She hid out there, in the rain, for an hour or so, before finally making an attempt to come inside again. Apologizing as she had never ever done before, and promising to be oh so careful.

But at the end of the day, the pups were okay, and she had never had a greater experience.
